Hello and welcome to my smugmug site. I'm updating daily, so keep checking back. What got me into photography? Slowing down and noticing the patterns in nature and the interconnectedness of "it all and all of us". I enjoy traveling and the outdoors, as you can see. I love rolling into those little backroads, backwoods towns and bellying up at the local watering hole to just observe. It's the place where people get together to tell stories, and I try to use my photography to do the same. I usually get good tips from the locals about some of the stuff and people in the area that I've just got to see. Driving around these backroads is where I get my inspiration, meeting the "real deal" folks that work close to the land and have a real sense of "community". Growing up in rural northern Illinois, driving around these backroads is what we did for fun, and along with my brother the writer and co-pilot, you may be seeing a book soon.
This photograph was taken 16 miles from the trailhead, at Upper Kintla Lake in Montana at sunrise. Everbody else was still sleeping, and while boiling water for our first cup 'o hotness, I decided to get something more than that typical self portrait. Hope you enjoy the site. Feel free to leave a comment and pass on some of those secret little spots you've found and I'll do the same. Keep on travelin' light............Billy
